Ayah :
1
وَيۡلٞ لِّكُلِّ هُمَزَةٖ لُّمَزَةٍ
Woe to every backbiter and slanderer,
Ayah :
2
ٱلَّذِي جَمَعَ مَالٗا وَعَدَّدَهُۥ
who amasses wealth and counts it over and again[1],
Ayah :
3
يَحۡسَبُ أَنَّ مَالَهُۥٓ أَخۡلَدَهُۥ
thinking that his wealth will make him live forever.
Ayah :
4
كَلَّاۖ لَيُنۢبَذَنَّ فِي ٱلۡحُطَمَةِ
No indeed! He will surely be cast into the Crushing Fire[2],
Ayah :
5
وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلۡحُطَمَةُ
and how do you know what the Crushing Fire is?
Ayah :
6
نَارُ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡمُوقَدَةُ
It is the kindled Fire of Allah,
Ayah :
7
ٱلَّتِي تَطَّلِعُ عَلَى ٱلۡأَفۡـِٔدَةِ
which reaches the hearts[3].
Ayah :
8
إِنَّهَا عَلَيۡهِم مُّؤۡصَدَةٞ
It will be closed down upon them,
Ayah :
9
فِي عَمَدٖ مُّمَدَّدَةِۭ
locked with towering columns[4].
